Microsoft's free program Remove Hidden Data will delete the edits and comments in either the 2003 or XP version of Microsoft Word. After installing the program, you'll see a new command called "Remove Hidden Data..." inserted within the "File" menu.
This tool is ideal for removing "track changes" edits and comments on documents such as contracts and performance evaluations. For example, after you and your colleagues edit a contract, keep the original edited version for reference. Then create a copy in which you run "Remove Hidden Data" and pass this version of the contract to the other party.
