How to search and replace in a PDF document

Let's say you want to find and replace a word in a PDF document. Since Adobe Acrobat doesn't have a search and replace command, you can use the Redaction command instead. To do this you have to use Adobe Acrobat Standard or Professional. You can't do this in Adobe Reader.

You'll find the Redaction commands under the menu Advanced.

Select the Search and Redact command to search for the word you want to replace.

After you check all the words to be replaced (redacted), open the Redaction Properties window. Check the Use Overlay Text box and use the Custom Text field to enter your replacement word.

Finally, from the Redactions menu or toolbar, select Apply Redactions to complete the search and replace.

Thanks to my colleague Nicole Brown for sharing this tip!
