3 alternatives to "no comment"

Media training expert Al Rothstein advises that if you are being interviewed by the media, "...saying 'no comment' is the best way to look like you have something to hide." Three alternatives to "no comment" can be found in Al's Master Your Media Message guidebook:

1. "It's not the appropriate time for me to respond, however, your questions are of concern to me as well. I'd like time to assemble the facts in order to get you the latest, most accurate information."

2. "Your questions certainly deserve the correct response. Allow me to refer you to someone who can give you more accurate information."

3. "Because of the circumstances surrounding the issue, it's simply not appropriate for me to respond."
